Valdosta, GA—According to a news release, two people were arrested and accused of discharging a weapon in a hotel room, when a patron of the hotel called in after hearing the shot. The accused were staying at The Garden Villas in Valdosta when the incident happened.
On December 23, 2022, reports state that there was a two-year-old child in the room found when police arrived along with the two suspects, Dequan Jacque George, 19, and Zaniyah Brianna Oliver, 18, of Valdosta. Both suspects were questioned but refused to answer why the gun was discharged. Both were arrested and jailed with felony damage to property and reckless endangerment according to the Lowndes County online booking records and George was also charged with theft by receiving stolen property for the firearm.
Officers found a firearm reported stolen from Cordele approximately 90 miles north of Valdosta, a news release stated.
The two-year-old child was turned over to the mother who was contacted and found.
