THE NITA M. LOWEY 21st CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERS (21st CCLC)

EVERY CHILD HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXCEL AND SUCCEED (ECHOES) in the Brooks County School District. ECHOES is an after school program that is funded by a federal grant. The ECHOES 21st Century Community Learning Centers began in the Brooks County School District in September 2006. The program operates during out-of-school hours throughout the regular school year and sixteen days in June. Students enrolled in ECHOES receive additional academic support in the core academic areas of English language arts (ELA), reading, math, science and social studies to help students meet or exceed state and local performance standards.

Academic enrichment opportunities such as educational field trips, STEM, fine arts, fitness, nutrition, college tours and character education are also provided. In addition to academic support and enrichment opportunities for students, the ECHOES program offers adult family members of students served by the 21st CCLC program opportunities for positive involvement and development through active and meaningful engagements. Monthly family engagement opportunities are held at each 21st CCLC site to increase family support and student learning.

There is no cost to students for field trips, special activities, snacks and summer meals provided during program hours. Breakfast and lunch are provided to students during the summer program. Transportation is also provided at no cost for students enrolled in ECHOES. Designated pick-up and drop-off points are available throughout Brooks County.
