On September 2nd, Pavo Civic Club hosted their annual Car/Truck & Swap Meet. During this event, contestants from all around the area bring their vehicles of all makes and models to the Pavo Civic Club (the old school building) to be voted on for awards.
Throughout the day, visitors to this event have the ability to look in the vehicles, learn about the make and models, take pictures and vote on their favorite one. Judges look for several things in order to make their selections and the Mayor of Pavo also tours the area to find that one special pick for his award that is given to that owner.
Meanwhile, visitors are also able to mingle with others, visit arts and craft vendors, get refreshments and goodies from food vendors, and compete in other activities like their 50/50 drawing, the Quilt drawing, watching Boston K9 dog, and more.
Throughout the day, locals as well as contestants enjoyed just being able to do something normal. Hurricane Idalia’s path took a toll on several people as it made its way through South Georgia and North Florida. Despite that destruction, this event brought a sense of normalcy to the area and to those who attended.
The following are the winners of the Car/Truck Show:
The Pavo Quilt Drawing winner was Janis Glover. She won a quilt made by Ann Bates. The second drawing winner was Sandy Mayich. Mayich won a beautiful quilt donated by Pat Chaney Hall and Grace Burmaster.
Pavo Civic Club and the Mayor of Pavo would like to thank all the contestants for participating in this event, as well as all the vendors, Boston K9, and everyone who came out to either help, or enjoy.
If you missed this year’s event, do not fret too much about that missed day. Pavo Civic Club will hold this event once again in 2024. Until that time, their next big event will be in December for their Santa meet and Christmas get together.
