Morven, GA—Morven held their first ever Just BBQ Cookoff and it was successful. Contestants filled Ernest Lawson Park with tents, grills, tables, music, and more Saturday, September 16th.
Morven Event Committee hosted their first BBQ Cookoff, and it brought folks from all over the county and several surrounding areas. People came out to grab a plate of BBQ being cooked and ready straight from the grill.
Ribs, chicken, butts, and even some hotdogs for the kids and sausage dogs for those who wanted something different. Homemade pink lemonade was also being sold with the plates and soft drinks. Smoke continued to rise from the grills and the smell of cooked BBQ seemed to surround those who made their way there.
For some refreshing treats, Lawson Peach Shed’s truck was there to serve those delicious cool refreshing, ice cream floats or peach lemonade. Gigi’s Sweet Treats served homemade candy apples, pound cake, brownies, and cookies to cover that sweet tooth and dessert.
This year’s Grill Master and best overall winner is Melvin Goss & Missy Cason Goss. Second Place winner was Jesse Rose, third place was Bassinee Kelly, and fourth was Tammy Acree.
The Morven Event Committee posted a huge thank you to all the contestants, and to the two vendors who participated. They would also like to thank the judges of this BBQ Cookoff, Misty Michelle Croft, Ashlee and Jimmy Wilson, and their very own Ray.
