On July 30th the Morven Event Committee held their first Back-to-School Giveaway in the Heritage Room at Morven City Hall. Families whose students needed help with some school supplies came in thankful and excited to receive some help.
Students were able to choose a bookbag of their liking, get a bag full of supplies that included notebooks, notebook paper, pencils, colored pencils, crayons, glue, scissors, pens, highlighters and more. Students were also given a sack lunch to take with them and choice of soups, Roman noodles and other donated foods.
Morven’s Event Committee wants to thank all of their donors for their contributions. Donators dropped off everything from food items to school supplies, and backpacks of all varieties. The bookbags covered to full length foldable tables and the school supplies covered two more. “It was our first time doing this for our students here at the Heritage Room, but we want the citizens to know that Morven cares,” said Mayor Anita Hill.
Event Committee member Tarji Hill said, “Every little bit helps, and we want our young ones to have what they need in order to succeed.” Keren Rountree stated on her Facebook page, “Thanks to everyone that supported and donated. We, the Morven Event Committee, appreciate each and everyone of you. Stay tuned for upcoming events!”
