Clinch County Captures Lead Early To Defeat Brooks County Trojans Varsity

Brooks County Trojans Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 18-5 loss to Clinch County on Wednesday. Clinch County took the lead on an error in the first inning.


The Brooks County Trojans Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Clinch County, giving up 18 runs.

Clinch County got things started in the first inning. An error scored one run for Clinch County.


Clinch County scored five runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Clinch County was led by Eli, Tucker, Cade , Levi, and Chase, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.


Levi took the win for Clinch County. The righty lasted one inning, allowing zero hits and one run. Tucker, Cade , and Gavin all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.


Emory Williford took the loss for Brooks County Trojans Varsity. The righthander lasted one-third of an inning, allowing one hit and zero runs while walking one.


Chase started the game for Clinch County. undefined allowed one hit and one run over one-third of an inning, walking zero Matthew Ferrell started the game for Brooks County Trojans Varsity. The righty lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and 12 runs while striking out three.

De'Shaun Hayes, Dallas Leverett, Ferrell, and Westin Chastain each collected one hit to lead Brooks County Trojans Varsity.



Clinch County had 11 hits in the game. Eli, Tucker, Levi Reliford, and Gavin all managed multiple hits for Clinch County. Eli led Clinch County with three hits in four at bats. Clinch County was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Reliford made the most plays with eight.

An 18-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were taken to local hospitals with gunshot wounds. The 18-year-old remains hospitalized in stable condition. The 22-year-old was treated and released. GBI investigates use-of-force incident death of a Pavo man

COLQUITT CO – The GBI is investigating a use-of-force incident death involving a Trooper and a 44-year-old Pavo man.  On Thursday, August 22, 2024, at about 2:30 p.m., a Georgia State Trooper was patrolling in Colquitt County, Georgia near State Road 33 and Lanier Road. While in the area, the trooper noticed Kennedy driving a blue 4-wheeler on SR33. The Trooper was aware of recent thefts and burglaries in the area involving a blue 4-wheeler. The Trooper followed Kennedy and attempted to pull him over using the emergency lights on his patrol car. Kennedy did not stop and drove away on the 4-wheeler. The Trooper chased him through several fields, a ditch, and back to the highway. While driving through another field during the chase, Kennedy turned the 4-wheeler into the Trooper’s patrol car, causing the 4-wheeler to overturn. Kennedy then ran away. The Trooper and a GSP K-9 chased Kennedy, and the K-9 caught up to and bit Kennedy to stop him. The Trooper handcuffed Kennedy and noticed that Kennedy had an injury from the bite. EMS and local deputies who responded to assist gave Kennedy medical treatment on the scene. Kennedy was taken to a hospital in Macon for treatment for his injuries. He later died at the hospital on Tuesday, August 27th in the early afternoon. Kennedy will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy. The investigation is active and ongoing. Once complete, the case will be provided to Southern Judicial Circuit District Attorney Brad Shealy for review

GBI Arrests Brooks County Man in Double Homicide Investigation

Quitman, GA (December 2, 2024) - The GBI has arrested and charged Wilbert Mobley, Jr., age 44, of Quitman, GA, with 2 counts of Malice Murder, 2 counts of Felony Murder, 3 counts of Aggravated Assault, and 3 counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime in connection to the deaths of Tamiko Mobley, age 48, of Quitman, GA, and Tiaja Mobley, age 25, of Quitman, GA. On Friday, November 29, 2024, at about 9:40 a.m., the GBI was requested by the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a double homicide that took place on Shiver Lane in Quitman, GA. Deputies initially responded and found two women, a mother and daughter later identified as Tamiko and Tiaja Mobley, had been shot inside the home. Tamiko Mobley did not live at the home but was staying with her daughter after an argument with her husband, Wilbert Mobley, Jr., the night before. Investigators found a man who had also been shot at and hit by debris during the incident. He sustained non-fatal injuries. Both victims will be taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office where autopsies will be performed. Quitman Police Department Officers who were assisting Brooks County deputies in responding to the 911 call arrested Wilbert Mobley, Jr. outside the home. Mobley was booked into the Brooks County Jail. This case is active and ongoing. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Thomasville at 229-225-4090.
