BOYETTE NAMED BCMS TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Dr. Maura Lewis, principal of Brooks County Middle School, announced at the BCMS Honor’s Night that Ms. Jaime Boyette had been selected to serve as BCMS Teacher of the Year for the 23-24 school year. A graduate of Georgia Military College and Western Governors University, Boyette is a twelve year veteran teacher. She currently teaches special education students in grades 6-8. 

“I chose to be a teacher to advocate for my children. My dad influenced me to continue my education and become a teacher” stated Boyette. For Boyette, the most rewarding aspect of teaching is seeing the growth that a student has made throughout the year.

Dr. Lewis shared, “Ms. Boyette has been a blessing for our school and the classroom within which she teaches. She has created a small and close knit family within her classroom, and both students and the paraprofessionals alike look forward to the excitement and engagement Ms. Boyette creates with each lesson she delivers. She is constantly coming up with new ideas and ways to keep her students learning and engaged including culinary lessons at BCHS, science experimentation through kite building, crystal ornament making, and pumpkin catapults to test force and motion. Ms. Boyette embodies everything positive and wonderful about education and our educators, and she is an integral facet to our students' success and school culture and pride. We love Ms. Boyette dearly!”

With twelve years of experience, she has many favorite memories but the one that stands out happened just recently. “My favorite teaching memory is when my class built boats in groups and competed against Ms. Jones' class last year in a boat race.” Said Boyette.

Ms. Boyette has two children that she is very proud of, son Bryce, and daughter Bella. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Boyette enjoys horseback riding, hiking and canoeing, and exploring new places. 



She will represent Brooks County Middle School for the 2023-2024 school year as Teacher of the Year and will compete at the district level for the title of Brooks County Schools Teacher of the Year. The BCS Teacher of the Year will compete at the state level for the title of Georgia Teacher of the Year. The BCS Teacher of the Year will be named at the Teacher of the Year banquet hosted in the fall.
