Colquitt EMC Newsline-- announced in their October 2024 issue the winners of their Bright Ideas Grant. According to Newsline (2024) “Bright Ideas awards grant money to teachers for their innovative and creative lesson plans”
The grant is possible through Georgia legislation who allows unclaimed capital credits to be used for education within communities who EMC serves. Brooks County Schools are in that area and teachers from Brooks County Middle, North Brooks Elementary and Quitman Elementary all applied.
The Winners from the local Brooks County schools are: Rodney Brown, Amy Giddens, Sam Harden, Halley Jones, Carrilee Overy, & Tanisha Rambeau from BCMS. Emily Holt, Kayla Toler, Teresa Tartaglia, Jocelyn Arrendale, & Taylor Spencer from NBES. Angie Tillman and Bailey Waldon from QES.
Colquitt EMC announced on their Facebook page that 146 teachers from all over their service area were awarded the grant. Over the following days, those winners will be announced on their Facebook page with pictures by schools in honor of those who continue to teach the young youth in their service area.
